In a tight economy, retailers are struggling to reach every type of buyer. From J. Crew To Ann Taylor, and now Banana Republic, retailer strategists are trying to broaden their base with other options for buyers.
Banana Republic has added BR Monogram and the Green Collection to complement their original apparel. The upscale urban chic BR Monogram line includes an upscale price, too. The fabrics, like silk and cashmere, account for some of the 30 to 40 percent increase in price.

The 50-piece eco Green Collection, including apparel in bamboo, organic linen, and soy/silk fabrics, was introduced just in time for Earth Day, April 27th.

Other retailer strategists in the weak economy, such as Guess and Keds, are announcing their “Green” ambitions, and just in time for Earth Day, too. But curiouser and curiouser is the news that Swedish automaker Saab is joining the green game by launching the Pure BioPower Eco Clothing Collection, which will produce organic cotton apparel made from Coroso nuts. (Available in May from Saab Expressions.)
Have a great Tuesday.
