1. The Ubiquitous Scarf
We will still be sporting a few of these fashion trends in 2009. After a certain age, the "Ubiquitous Scarf" can be a women's best friend.
Looking like nosy Gladys Kravtiz peeking through her curtains, I have been peering out my window for The Man in Brown to arrive with my slim black patent leather Yves Saint Laurent stamp tote from Avelle, the NEW Bag, Borrow or Steal. With a gift certificate to Avelle, I am feeling like a REAL diva. The trendy tote retails for over a thousand dollars, and I am borrowing it for a month. When I'm finished impressing MYSELF, I will just print out the free UPS shipping label and return it to Avelle and borrow something else.
To drop a few names, you can rent handbags, sunglasses, jewelry or watches with designer names like Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Fendi, Marc Jacobs, Leiber, Burberry, BE & D, Kooba, Tory Burch, kate spade, Coach...
If you are searching for the woman who has everything, the trendsetter on your holiday shopping list, the recessionista who can sport a designer bag without the guilt, or the woman who likes to change her look more often than the weather, look no further. Get them a gift certificate to Avelle. It will be the BEST return on your investment.

Mon Ami was in the market for new prescription eyeglasses, and since it is always better to have an objective observer -- well, somewhat objective anyway -- to assess glasses on your face, we went spec shopping together. We had already determined that we both had heart-shaped faces, but we both are opposite in hair and skin coloring. A light-colored amber suited my face the best, while a dark-colored red suited Mon Ami's face and coloring the best.
Face Shape: It's all about balance. Choose frames that are in proportion to the rest of your face. Click here for tips on how to determine your face shape.
Coloring: Skin and hair are either a cool (blue-based) or warm (yellow-based) coloring.
Cool Skin Tones: Generally women with cool skin tones have blue, almost violet eyes, medium brown or almost black eyes. They generally have blue-black, platinum, strawberry blond, or auburn brown hair. Frames that work best for cool skin tones include:
These guidelines are only guidelines. Both Mon Ami and I bought frames that matched our personalities rather than specifically following the rules. No matter what frame you choose, remember, confidence is the best accessory you can wear. If you put your confidence on first, you will have it made in the shade.
Cheers,
Beckie
