Fitness Friday Class Review: Body Pump
This is a toughie. I used to teach this muscular endurance class, but I haven't had a taste of it in a few months. When I showed up at my old stompin' grounds in the Bend to dabble with the barbells, I knew what was in store for me -- pain, moans, and sheer enjoyment all in one.
This class burns mucho calories while you lift low to moderate weights to music that I would categorize as "bangin' beats."
Instructor and Head Trainer of ICE Athletic Center, Amy Jones, kept me going when I wanted to throw my weight on the floor and throw my towel in the basket. She kept to the beat of the music while we did different lifting movements to different tempos. "Down for 3, Up for 1. Super-slow. On to a 2 count..."
Each body part deserves it's very own song, which means you're doing squats for 3 to 5 minutes. Squats=Shapely Booty.
I highly recommend this workout for those looking to tone up and lose weight. I give it 5 push-ups.
