Manic Monday's Facelift and Giveaways

Beauty is beyond skin, it's in a person's soul. Physical beauty is superficial. I am much more likely to remember someone for their kindness or personality than I am for their looks. Pretty is as pretty does...
To begin with, standards of beauty are malleable and vary across cultures, ethnicities, races, genders, sexes, subcultures, historical moment, and individual preferences. Beauty must be thought of in the plural--there are infinite types of beauty. To me, pure beauty really does come from within. Some of the most beautiful people I know would not be considered beautiful in the "conventional" sense--but something in their personality or heart surfaces to shine a light on their true beauty. Conversely, sometimes "beautiful" people aren't always the kindest people. Unkindness can really cast an ugly shadow on an otherwise perfect facade. Luckily, we have the power to choose which we want to be.In other words, beauty can be found in anyone or anything and in many different forms. And a person's inner beauty, if given the chance, can always manifest itself in some physical way.
Sometimes, those that seem the most beautiful from the outside have numerous issues on the inside! It's nice to be appreciated for yourbeauty, but true health and true beauty is not defined by external looks. Mental stability, peace, confidence, and contentment contribute more to beauty than any style, clothes, or makeup.

Manic Monday: 5 Tricks to Beat The Monday Munchies
If you're like us, Mondays are the hardest days to beat the munchies. It's now 2:00 est. Our blood sugar has plummeted. Here are four quick tips to keep you away from that bag of potato chips or the snack machine.
- Grab your IPod. Music activates the same pleasure center of your brain that food does. Listen to your fave song, and say adios to hunger.
- Get some sunshine. I know we talk about staying out of the sun ad nauseum, but you only need 20 minutes of rays to kill a food craving, and as an added benefit, it boosts your mood.
- Breathe deeply. If you are like most of us, when you're stressed out, that's when you will most likely run to the vending machine or the kitchen for a high-sugar and high-carbohydrate snack. The next time you have the munchies, try deep breathing, which will relieve the stress, which in turn, calms you down. (LOL)
- Laughter reduces hunger pangs. LOL.
- Drink water. Many times those hunger pangs are thirst pangs in disguise.

The Hubster and I flew out of Chicago early Saturday morning. As a recovering germaphobe, I try not to Lysol my body before leaving for the airport. (See Tips for Making Air Travel Easier.)
But I came across a tip from a well-seasoned traveler and fashion editor that I couldn't resist giving a test-run. The fashion editor suggested applying Neosporin underneath your nose prior to departure to keep germs at bay.
While standing in line to board the airplane, my cilia were already standing at attention like a good soldier. Squeezing the tube of Neosporin, I inhaled the clear, gooey confection like a cocaine addict after leaving rehab. Having caught The Hubster unaware of my new scheme to thwart the flying viruses, he exclaimed, "Beckie, you've got something oozing out of your pores on your face."
Tipping my head toward my chest and biting my lip to suppress a giggle, I confessed that I had fallen off the germaphobe wagon. The Hubster and I flew out of Chicago early Saturday morning. As a recovering germaphobe, I try not to Lysol my body before leaving for the airport. (See Tips for Making Air Travel Easier.)
But I came across a tip from a well-seasoned traveler and fashion editor that I couldn't resist giving a test-run. The fashion editor suggested applying Neosporin underneath your nose prior to departure to keep germs at bay.
While standing in line to board the airplane, my cilia were already standing at attention like a good soldier. Squeezing the tube of Neosporin, I inhaled the clear, gooey confection like a cocaine addict after leaving rehab. Having caught The Hubster unaware of my new scheme to thwart the flying viruses, he exclaimed, "Beckie, you've got something oozing out of your pores on your face."
Tipping my head toward my chest and biting my lip to suppress a giggle, I confessed that I had fallen off the germaphobe wagon. I added with extra cheeriness, "Isn't it better sitting next to me on a plane with a snout full of Neosporin than with me hidden under a jacket draped over my head like a tent?"
