Amanda, the beauty intelligentsia's skincare specialist, advises Brad Pitt on how to make his skin look better.
From Celebrities With Best and Worst Skin:
Pitt is one of the biggest heartthrobs in Hollywood, but his skin doesn't always look perfect (shocking, we know). He has obvious acne scars, likely a result of teenage acne. And the overall tone and texture of his skin isn't smooth, which Bank contributes to "getting older, stress or working too hard," he says. Heidi Waldorf, M.D., of Waldorf Dermatology & Laser Associates, recommends several treatments with the Fraxel Restore laser, which costs $750-1500 per treatment and requires two to three days of downtime, to improve scarring like Pitt's.
Perhaps Brad Pitt will consider other options after reading Amanda's advice:
There are many options available to treat acne scarring. I would first ask Brad what bothers him about his appearance. If the acne scarring is minimal, a filler agent can be used in combination with topical treatment to smooth the appearance of the skin.
On the other hand, I think the acne scarring is more significant. My recommendation would be TOTAL FX as it provides tightening and improvement in texture. The ReStore Laser requires 3 to 5 treatments depending upon the damage of the skin.
Brad Pitt has significant acne scarring and also could benefit from skin tightening. I would recommend TOTAL FX, which is a one-time procedure with downtime of approximately one week. The cost would be approximately $3000 which includes products to help the healing process. The cost of 3 restore treatments would be $2250-4500.
How does TOTAL FX work?
A high-energy beam of light is used to vaporize lines, wrinkles, scars, dark spots and other irregularities, layer by layer. The high energy stimulates the formation over time of new, underlying collagen to provide better elasticity and support for the skin.
The benefits of fractionated laser include immediate skin tightening, reduction in wrinkles and lines; improve texture and tone of your skin and the stimulation of new collagen. The results with fractionated laser are long term. The face, neck, chest, and hands can be treated. The contraindications (those who should avoid) for treatment with fraxel laser are poor wound healing history, keloid former, and use of Accutane in the past 12 months, prolonged redness. The risks and complications include hypo pigmentation, hyper pigmentation, scarring, pain, burning, crusting, itching, acne like breakouts, herpes, milia, and petechiae.
