Skin Restoring Night Moisturizer with a Twist: Prescriptives Good in Bed

Posted on Aug 30, 2009 at 7:09AM

picture of Prescriptives' Good in Bed moisturizerPrescriptives' Good In Bed Skin Restoring Night Moisturizer is a luxurious treatment that contains subtle tanners  to enhance your natural color so skin awakens with that "morning after" glow.

The first time Mother Blogger used Good in Bed,  she was tucked in freshly washed and ironed  bed sheets holding and reading Twilight  with one hand and dipping her other hand into the recently-delivered Prescriptives product.  With nose twitching like a beagle sniffing the air, she noticed a smell that was reminiscent of  DHA (dihydroxyacetone) found in self-tanners.  She made a mental note to self and kept reading Twilight.  (Yes, girlfriends, I'm hooked,  too!)

That funky sunless-tanner smell (which has been described as somewhere between the odor of burning flesh and cat pee) is due to the chemical reaction taking place between your skin and the key ingredient in sunless tanners —  (DHA). It’s that reaction that causes your skin color to turn tawny. The smell typically goes away when you next shower. However, many newer products — including self-tanners by Prescriptives, Chanel, Clarins and Bliss — manage to mask the characteristic sunless-tanner aroma with other fragrances. Since you can't assess stink potential just by smelling the product in the bottle, try a sample on your skin and wait a few hours to sniff before purchasing.

Upon arising the next morning, Mother Blogger's handsome and darling husband brought a cup of tea for Mother Blogger to drink in bed and upon seeing her face exclaimed, "What in the #&$#&#^ have you done to yourself?"

In the seconds it took Mother Blogger to run to the bathroom mirror, she conjured up all kinds of face scenarios:  Menopause raped her face while she slept leaving her with jowls draping her neck;  her pillow creased her face with more wrinkles than a cute but wrinkly Shar Pei; Edward, the vampire, sucked all the blood out of her face.

To her delight, upon reaching the mirror, she observed an uneven, blotchy morning after glow.   "Ha!  It must have been a really good night!" she yelled to her husband.

She picked up the silver Prescriptives' Good in Bed jar that she had dipped her hand in the night before and discovered that the funky smell  was DHA.

The next night she used Good in Bed following the directions on the jar:

To use: before bed, gently massage on to face, neck and décolleté. Wash hands after application and wait 2-3 minutes for cream to absorb before coming in contact with clothing or bedding. (Note that no exfoliation required.)

The morning after glow that appeared the next morning was a subtly enhanced naturally-looking healthy glow -- um, with a hint of conoodling.

With nourishing ingredients like shea butter and Vitamin E and brightening ingredients like grapefruit extract , most women will love the benefits of Good in Bed.  Pricier than what drugstores call “glow” products like Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer, Dove's Energy Glow, and Aveeno's Continuous Radiance, Prescriptives' Good in Bed might be worth the price for women who are looking for a good moisturizer as well as a subtle tan.  If nothing else, the name might stimulate a little hanky panky.
